Updates and News
We started River Valley simply. We still seek to operate simply.
When we began a group of leaders were appointed to help usher us into a foundationally healthy start. Legal recognition, papers, 501c3 status, bank accounts, financial management patterns for growth, etc. That was our 'Council' and they did whatever was needed to chime in and work as we got underway.
We've grown. We've learned lessons.
Any church has the reality of having a 'spiritual side' and a 'practical side.' A single team seeking to address both is tough. So we prayed and researched and tossed around lots of ideas.
We are moving to a 'hybrid' form of church governance with specific teams of leaders to focus on the 'spiritual nature' and the 'practical needs' separately. If you wanna know more, our CLASS 101 is the key place to learn it.
If you TOOK that class before now, keep listening. We'll be discussing this in detail in a sermon series coming up within the next year. You'll hear about each group of leaders, their responsibilities, and the checks and balances and accountability to help all those leading the church stay fresh in relationship with Christ and solid in their ministry work!
For now: We have 'interim' Elders and Trustees functioning as teams. (Nov 2011) They are also reviewing a full set of 'Bylaws' to guide River Valley beyond who is present and leading now, for generations to come!
